French linens - Beautiful, but requiring too much ironing!
I do like being alone for long periods of time;
I don't like being away from my husband.
I do love being a mom and am grateful for my wonderful daughter;
I don't like being such a great geographic distance from her.
I do like traveling;
I don't like flying across the Atlantic.
I do like meeting people from around the world;
I don't accept racial prejudice or intolerance.
I do pay attention to politics;
I don't hesitate to speak or act for change.
I do like writing;
I don't like sitting at the computer for hours.
I do like living in Paris;
I don't like dealing with seemingly endless French bureaucracy.
I do like playing the piano;
I don't like that our apartment is too small to have one.
I do like hosting dinner parties;
I don't like washing lots of dishes afterwards.
I do like small intimate gatherings;
I don't like big parties.
I do like long conversations over dinner;
I don't like voices raised in anger.
I do like creating a beautiful home;
I don't like vacuuming and ironing.
I do like folding fresh laundry;
I don't like long cycles of French and British washing machines.
I do like staying up late at night;
I don't like getting up early in the morning.
I do like swimming;
I don't like anyone seeing me in a swimsuit.
I do like finding antiques and collectibles;
I don't like figuring out how to get them home.
I do like baking cookies and cupcakes and eating bread;
I don't like gaining weight.
I do appreciate good manners;
I don't like thoughtlessness or rude behaviour.
I do like spending time in Seville and Savannah;
I don't like the summertime heat and humidity.
I do like living in San Francisco;
I don't like the outrageous costs of real estate.
I do like people who think for themselves;
I don't like those with closed minds, who act like sheep.
I do like long walks with my husband;
I don't like uncomfortable shoes on cobblestoned streets.
I do believe in God and consider myself a spiritual person;
I don't like religious groups trying to hijack politics.
I do like fresh flowers in my apartment;
I don't like plastic or silk flowers - even if they look real.
I do like a fine red wine or champagne on occasion;
I don't like smoking.
I do want to save money for a house;
I don't know how to stop buying unique treasures.
I do want to finish writing my book;
I don't always find it easy being creative on demand.
I do appreciate honesty and constructive criticism;
I don't like liars who try to trick people.
I do admire brave men and women;
I don't like cowards who can't face reality.
I was "tagged" by the uniquely talented Krista for this writing exercise. In turn, I'd like to invite Annie, Colette, Corey, Amber, Susan and Jessie to participate.

This was a fun read! :)

We do and do not like so many of the same things that I feel like I know you!

I do like getting to know you a little more through these do-likes and don't-likes on your blog....
I don't like the fact that you're in Paris and I'm in Montana and chances of meeting in real life are ... well, maybe I can change this don't-like someday!

This list gave a quick glimpse into the vast landscape and I loved that! "I don't always find it easy being creative on demand." I couldn't agree more.

I love learning more about you. Another kindred spirit.

I like your entire list, but the one that really hit home was that you like to be a mother but don't like being such a large geographical distance from your daughter. Amen to that, only I am the daughter and don't like being so far away from my mom.
And the bureaucracy? Try living in an ex-Portuguese colony like Mozambique. It is based on a system just as flawed, but minus sufficient resources and qualified people to work in the system...

haha, so many of your dos and don'ts are similiar to what mine would be. i also dread flying, but i love traveling. another reason why they should hurry up with inventing a teleport machine!
"I do like finding antiques and collectibles;

-I hear ya on that one!!! Especially if I see a large item I "simply must have" and then the shipping costs several times what I actually paid for it.

this is wonderful! i just may have to tag myself and do this one tomorrow :-)
the top 3 that i agree with the most: the fresh flowers, eating bread, and wine (hmmm 2 of the 3 are food related so that automatically adds the swimsuit comment!)

Hi,
Found your blog while blogsurfing. I'm also an American expat, living in the Netherlands (talk about bureaucracy!), but I would love to live in Paris.... someday.
Your do's and don'ts seem very similar to mine.
LOL @ the long washing cycles!
I'll stay tuned! (oh yeah, ironing linens is not fun...lol)
Thanks for your blog. :-)
