A man rides his horse on a solitary trek through the desert valley terrain of Wadi Rum, Jordan. Banded by mountains, the area has a lonely, ethereal beauty. It is largely uninhabited, although Bedouin tribesmen and their families sometimes set up camp, before moving on to another part of the country.

Beautiful photo!

We had lunch with a Bedouin family in their camp just outside the Wadi. They then gave us a ride in...and then when we left we had tea with the police in the station just outside...They actually flagged down a passing truck and told the driver he had to give us a ride! He did try to get a kiss from "the madame" as payment before the trip was over...
I'm glad to have found your blog via Poetry Thursday.

the beauty in stillness, in whispers and hot sand, the time made unknown by the lack of familiar objects, standing alone in vastness...the call of the place we all go to one time or another.
