After leaving the Jardin du Luxembourg yesterday, my husband and I stumbled upon an unexpected treat - the 29th Foire aux Antiquaires at Place St. Sulpice! So many beautiful things, I was overwhelmed - especially sans bank cards, with only 20 euros cash! I could hardly bear to look, as everywhere I turned presented a feast for the eyes! I bought a silver mould of a victory medal to use as a paperweight and concentrated on taking photos - not looking too closely at what I could not consider buying. Later I found out the antiques fair continues from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily through June 12th! You can bet I'll be making a return trip - sans husband, avec cash!
In the photo above, unique curiosities and antiques abound from Sophie Pretelat's Anges et Demons shop at 14 rue Notre Dame in Cunault, France. I bought an antique Madonna's crown from her at a brocante at Bastille. At another stand, an exquisite gothic bird cage (below), chandelier with amber crystal drops and petite iron doll furniture are on offer.

Madam,
I love your website.
Sophie Pretelat is one of our friends. We were at first her customers, then we got on.
Congratulations for all your photos, and the invaluable information which you give us.
Sorry for my English...

Oh, Tara. The chandelier. It's fabulous. I wish there were two of them - one for you in Paris and one for my Casa Rosa in Rio de Janeiro. It's a pink villa from 1910 that my mom and I bought together in 2001 and I am slowly but surely decorating it in a mix of antiques and modern folk art. I am on a constant hunt for authentic crystal chandeliers... This one has just captured my fancy big-time.
Sigh...
So many beatiful things in the world!

Surey a feast for the eyes! Don't you just love finds like this where you can roam around and just drool! Even better when you can return and see everything with fresh eyes as the first time is always overwhelming! I have picked out my favorites!

I can't take it! You have so many neat antiques there! I loved the candle sticks and the screen too. I love how you treat me with your little journies and window shopping :)

oh my god. *dies*
so many goodies! what a feast for the eyes indeed.
by the way, tara, do the venders usually have any qualms about you taking photos? because here in cape cod if i go into the small local shops, the owners usually give me the evil eye if i whip out my camera. if i really want to take a pic of something, i usually have to assure them that it's just for me. apparently artists have been known to snap photos and then copy the works. :(

What a feast for the eyes. And just as well it's for the eyes -- I would go bankrupt at such a foire!!! And probably quite happily.

Oh I would just love to be there. Annie is sighing over her keyboad. And "Angels and Demons" that is the translation, yes? What a curious name for a shop. Hope to see the Madonna's crown posted here sometime.

How do you narrow it down to what you're going to buy when there is so much from which to choose?!!
Pretty, pretty.
