Hello everyone! Back from London, where my surgery went well. Of course, it turned out to be the hottest day on record in England! Thankfully, the hospital was air-conditioned, although the hotel wasn't.
My husband and I spent our days prior to the surgery buying a new laptop, enjoying a celebratory dinner with family at Laseez - our favourite Indian restaurant in South Kensington - and trying to stay cool in air-conditioned bookshops, stores and restaurants. Until two hours before the surgery, we were at the Victoria & Albert Museum seeing the fabulous Modernism: Designing a New World exhibition, including Russell Wright pottery, Breur chairs and other iconic American and European designs from 1914-1939.
Thank you all for your prayers, positive thoughts and lovely messages of support. I have been deeply touched by your thoughtful words and many expressions of kindness during these past weeks. Merci bien, mes amis!
I am moving rather slowly and hope to catch up on e-mail and your blogs over the next few days. As you might imagine, having spent years reporting from the Middle East, I have some things to say about the current crisis. Please check back later for more posts.

So, I understand now "what about London". A lot of kisses Tara. I'm so glad everything went well.
Good health and be carreful now.

Sorry I'm late to say welcome back. I was traveling a bit and fell behind in my blog-reading. Hope everything went well.

Hope you are well on the mend now, parfait. Thanks for dropping by to mine.
I'll be back for more visits, especially to see what you say about the deepening Lebanese crisis. It's not good at all.

Happy to see you back and glad that the surgery went well. I hope you have a/c in Paris. I understand that there may be a break in the heat in the middle of the week. That would certainly be fine with me.

So glad that your surgery went well. How wonderful that you were able to do some fun things on your trip as well!
I'll be so interested to read your perspective on the situation in Lebanon. We had a team there that arrived home in the states just two days before the bombing began. They are all so worried about the friends and fellow workers they left behind. It seems like such a tragic situation and one with no good outcome. I'll be checking back to read your thoughts. Take care!

Bonjour! Oh, how I've missed you! Seeing your sweet comment was such a sight for sore eyes - I am so thankful that all went well for you in London. I, too, am anxious to hear your insights on the current world situation. But do ease back in slowly, my friend, and don't overdo it. The world wide web needs your words of wisdom, but we can wait while you heal! (What a lot of W's!)
Take good care of you -

Glad you're back! I've wanted to read your take on the situation in Israel and Lebanon lately -- not a good week for you to be out of commission! Glad the surgery went well, and I hope the laptop is treating you well, too. Cheers!

Glad to see you back, and doubly happy to hear that your surgery went well.

It is good to see you back!! Yay!

So glad everything went so well with your surgery.
And by the way, your recent laptop problems inspired me to stop putting off buying a new one so that I have a back-up at all times. My current one has been overheating and needs some work, so I ordered a new Dell and it will arrive next week! So your painful experience may have helped me avert one of my own!

Woohoo! She is back and doing well!!!! Don't overdo my sweet friend. I'm glad you had some fun before the dreaded surgery. It is 106 here and I'm home in the air :) The world is in chaos and I'm anxious to here your take on it. Will Ms. Rice, being a woman, help or hurt? Will they listen to her?
Many hugs and kisses!!!!

Tammy

Hi Tara. I (and all of us for sure) are so glad to see you back and doing well. Be careful. Don't overdo things. My SIL had some serious female surgery a month ago and the key to recovery is NOT TO PUSH IT. When you've got the strength, start walking and build up your strength. Thank you for you kind words about my mom. So much going on there. My head is spinning.
Love

be kind to yourself and take it easy...

OH welcome home and HURRAY that the surgery went well, I'm pleased as punch. I'm also glad you've got a new laptop, we need to hear your words Tara! You take care of yourself and don't push too much. Convalescence is a good thing and it's your body telling you to take it easy. It's summertime after all.

Welcome back Parfait of Lovliness!
I'm glad your surgery went well and I wish you good health and a speedy recovery.
Oh, the Middle East.. Unbelievable. I'm trying to follow the news.. it's just horrible.
I'm so glad you got to spend some great times, aside from the surgery, in London.
Go easy and get better.

I'm so glad that everything went well. Despite needing to have surgery, your trip sounds as though it might have been pretty enjoyable! Good for you.
The photo you've posted today makes me desire Paris like you wouldn't believe. It might even have something to do with that sky--the sky, those buildings, the sculpture...
It makes me smile to know that you're doing fine.
:)
luv,

Welcome back Tara. Two hours b4 surgery you're at a museum??? Girl...LOL...you are very strong. Take it easy and heal gently. Glad you are back!

It's a "good job" you're back because I rely on you to synthesize the news for me and it's getting wearisome reading multiple news sources for myself ;-)
Seriously, do take it easy...save some of that spunk just waiting to be released for Spain!
