The One Deep Breath prompt is simple pleasures. Twice last week I had the privilege to visit the Museo de Bellas Artes in Sevilla. I wandered around taking notes, soaking up the beauty and sitting in the open courtyards, admiring the tiled walls and floors, as well as the sculpture and fountains.
Among the museo´s treasures are many paintings from the Sevilla-born Bartolomeo Esteban Murillo (1617-1682). Among them is the La virgen de la Sevilleta or Virgen con el nino, painted on a napkin between 1665-68. Most of Murillo´s paintings are huge wall-size masterpieces depicting the annunciation or other religious events.
These five haiku were inspired by the simple pleasure of seeing Murillo´s genius:
Bellas artes museo
footsteps echo in quiet
beauty calms senses
His brush dipped in dreams
blending faith and angel´s wings
painting history
Unforgettable
quality of light and space
cascading angels
These sacred stories
provided inspiration
underlying faith
Inside this painting
God´s majesty and man´s awe
and wonder are found

These made me ache to view the paintings! What lovely haiku ~ I loved "his brush dipped in dreams."

I love the pictures you take. They are so beautiful.
My son came home from school today and started telling me some Spanish words. His teacher's parents were missionaries to Mexico, and she speaks fluent Spanish. She is teaching his class some words. He is so excited about it. Hey, and at least he can roll his r's. He was laughing at me because I cannot. :)

I love court yards in museums! This reminds me of the Frick, also the Cloisters; 2 museums I haven't visited in a long while.
