Bright fall mums spill from a circular row of large urns at the Luxembourg Gardens, Paris.

These men are regulars for Sunday afternoon boule games at the Luxembourg Gardens. They told me I should take photos of the next team, as they were "better players" - but not nearly as photogenic.
I spent most of the day with Susan of Soozphotoz and her belle mere Kate. We started off at the Puces de Vanves, where we found several curiosities and bargains, naturallement (more about that in another post). Susan and I discovered we were great shopping companions, taking our time to comb through boxes and baskets looking for elusive treasure. Then on to lunch at a lovely bistro near Montparnesse, before our afternoon sojourn in the Luxembourg Gardens, including Susan's annual pilgrimage to the Medici Fountain. Sadly, she's in Paris only a little longer - but we've already made plans for her next visit!

This photo is quite the masterpiece in
every way - in terms of balance and
color and emotion - and very "new"
to me!!!!
I love the attitude of the gentlemen!!

oo la la! How gorgeous are the Luxembourg Gardens? Quite, I
would say.
I always have such fun reading your posts.
FYI, I went on line and ordered Dr. Weill's cream from Origins, that you raved about.
I am loving it and loving you and your blogging madness.
Blog on!

La photo des joueurs de pétanque est chalereuse, malgré l'aspect hivernale du square. Bravo.

I totally agree with you about these men. They are photogenic - for sure.

Such a fun day! A perfect way to spend Sunday afternoon. I really enjoyed reading/seeing both of your impressions of the day!

Ok.......I'm officially envious. It's time to start saving my pennies.
The first time I watched a group of men play boule was in Nimes on a Sunday many years ago. They looked so much like the men in your photo that I was transported back.....
Such tradition......and friendship. Despite our ever changing, ever evolving world of progress (well that's debatable) it is so nice to know that some things never change.
Enjoy your week Tara.

What a lovely, leisurely afternoon! I love the straight-faced good humor of the boule players.
What fun to go browsing with a blog buddy.

I love the curving pots of mums - lovely! And, the bit about the next team being better players, but not nearly so photogenic - priceless! Sounds like a wonderful day out & about with good friends. Lovely, JP

I'm planning a visit to Ireland next spring to visit family. I'm thinking of a side trip to Paris -- it has been so long since I was there and I miss it. xoxo

Oh, there's my garden (sniff, sniff)---I was there the day they started the mum planting in all the beds! So glad you and Susan had such a fabulous day together, but wish I could have been there, too!

We stayed a block away from the Luxembourg Gardens when we were in Paris, so we walked through it every day. Thanks for bringing that memory back to me today.

oh how much fun! with you in Paris, combing through boxes - full of wonderful bits. I did the same thing the other day - except I was in Katoomba and by myself. Maybe oneday, Tara - you & I can comb together - if only :)
