I have spent the afternoon at the brocante at Bastille - yes, I went back for seconds and to see Blandine Bavoux, a favourite antiques dealer who was out of town until today - so will post more later.
Tonight is the big rematch of the France-New Zealand rugby game at the Stade Francais Stadium in Paris. You may have heard that France was severely trounced last Saturday by the superb All-Blacks team. This afternoon the Paris metro was filled with New Zealand fans in black-and-white rugby shirts, no doubt hoping for a second victory.
But of course, I'll be cheering for France. After all, one of the French players lives in our neighbourhood and plays for our favourite team, Stade Francais. Naturally, Di at Woman Wandering in Belgium will be cheering for her home team, the All-Blacks! Meanwhile, here's a photo of the weeping willow in our courtyard, dripping with autumn gold.
Update: New Zealand defeated France 23-11 in a thrilling match.

Weeping willow (or weeping birch) this tree looks like golden tears to me. Very startling in its beauty.

I had no idea that weeping willows turned gold! Like aspens... that would be beautiful to see.

Thank you for the lovely autumn gold, and the fun peek into your friend's shop. I felt a little thrill at seeing the ceramic spice cabinet again! (oo! it's still there! well, maybe if I win the lottery...)
Speaking of winning, hope your team won tonight!

Is this really a weeping willow? To me it looks like a "weeping birch" :-) We have alot of them in Norway.

Tara, I visited Bladine Bavoux and imagin my surprise when I found my own little mustard pot starring out at me from his shop. I love it when things like this happen. Annie

Such a marvelous willow - nice that there is some color left to enjoy - ours is long gone.
Your shopping trips look like such fun. There's nothing to compare here in the states. I love the way everything you see has such a wonderful history to go with it.

I will cheer for France. New Zealand is in my bad books at the moment. They have reneged on their contract with my nephew; no car, no apartment, so he has to pay it from his own pocket, which is empty because after a month and a half, he still hasn't been paid and they keep making excuses. Looks like he'll be returning home soon.
The willow tree is beautiful!

If you get a minute, please come by my place.
hugs and happy holidays,

Funny...today we drove past a golden weeping willow and I turned to M. and said, "Our next house will have a weeping willow tree..." just like the one you've shared here.
