I always thought orchids would be difficult to raise since they look so delicate and usually come from a hot house but I was given a plant as a gift once and just kept it by my kitchen window, watered it once a week, fertilized it once a month and, darn if it didn't rebloom for me twice before a cold front got it when we were out of town. I was amazed. Anyway, lovely photos.
They look like beautiful delicate ladies. Beautiful.
I'm a sucker for flowers.......... today I hung out with a bunch of bright red and yellow tulips and inhaled their spring.......... must get some this weekend to replace the stale looking pointsettias!!!
My uncle used to grow orchids in his small, very sunny orchid house behind his home. He was crazy, nutty about them-- and grew so many varieties that I think he lost count.
I'd forgotten how beautiful orchids are until I saw your photos. Thanks for the memory.
My stepmother's a big gardener, but didn't have any orchids...so we gave her some for her 70th birthday. They're just so beautiful.

So much has been said...but orchids will do that; they just scream, "Aren't I beautiful???" And, indeed they are.
It reminds me of a story about the first orchid plan that I bought in France...hmmm....I'll have to go write that down...

Something about orchids that seem so otherworldly to me... I mean, they are just too beautiful to be real...

I love orchids * I have a few plants growing in my courtyard and this year I was blessed to have about 3 or 4 spikes on each plant. I was so excited!
