Two weeks ago this old table was in sad shape. My friend Julie who owns the antiques store Agape had just found it at a flea market in Northern France. Its zinc top was dirty and marked and its faded beige colour had long lost its lustre. But its potential was still visible.
A piece of teal blue pottery from Santa Fe was the colour inspiration (the colour is darker than it appears in the photo) for the distressed paint finish. Later I remembered the aqua crystal drawer knob I'd purchased at a Savannah antiques shop. After the paint, cleaning the zinc and adding the new drawer knob, et voila!
Now the trick is to make the table fit in our small kitchen! It appears some serious rearranging is in order. Meanwhile, le table waits in the foyer, blocking coat closets.

What a beauty! I love the color!!! What a lovely addition to your home.

Teal is one of my most favorite colors. I look forward to seeing when you have fit it into your kitchen. Nice lines to the table.

A wonderful find! And the knob is perfect. A true Franco-American production!

I should take a picture of the table my computer is on - it looks so close to that. It was my great-great grandmother's first kitchen table, made by her father. The bottom has the same blue-ish green tint, but it's much lighter. And now I feel awful for having all these drinks and stuff all over it!!
I heart vintage things.. who knows the love that just seeps out of them!!

What a find! It 'cleaned up' quite nicely. Love the zinc top and that gorgeous blue together - the crystal drawer pull accents it perfectly. Well done!

What a great looking table Tara. Be sure to show us when it is set in place in the kitchen with a lovely centerpiece adorning it.
