A stone urn and zinc window casing at the 74th Annual Foire Nationale a la Brocante et aux Jambons at Ile de Chatou. By now, you must feel quite familiar with this brocante!

A painted iron cart containing pots de confiture or jelly glasses.

From gothic-inspired chairs to religious statues - some of the many diverse items on sale at Chatou.
Thus far this day has not lived up to expectations. For instance, I was up until 3 a.m. trying to repair the layout of my blog. Yesterday, Typepad made some "improvements," which supposedly didn't affect individual blogs. However, my blog's content was suddenly shoved beneath the left sidebar and despite my best efforts, would not budge. Even worse, all my saved templates were corrupted and the solution Typepad suggested didn't work. So I've spent nearly three hours this morning trying to get one template into a reasonable facsimilie of the design and content I prefer. The talented guy who helps me with web design is currently on holiday in Thailand. For the moment, it appears I'm stuck with this look. Update 6 p.m. - The blog design has reverted to yesterday's design, even though my template says I'm using the one created this morning as a temporary "fix!" Oops! 6:10 p.m. and it's back to the temporary fix. I give up trying to figure out what's happening.
Also, while hanging some tiny milagros to my wall of crosses and religious icons, I hammered my finger, which wasn't pleasant. One milagro became embedded in the backing of an antique Spanish mirror and I had to remove the splintered wooden back to retrieve it. You wouldn't believe the gigantic antique dust bunnies lurking inside! My husband asked if I'd put them on eBay, considering their advanced age.
I burned the chorizo quesadilla I was making for lunch, to the point it was inedible. I dropped a bottle of prescription cough syrup, shattering it all over the kitchen floor. And the computer company with which I am currently embroiled in a claim has blacklisted my email as spam, forcing me to fax all correspondence. But that's another post. You get the picture: the day has been one small disaster after another. I probably should have stayed in bed!
To cheer myself up, I'm going for a bike ride or walk. I'll be back later to post photos of some of the brocante treasures that came home with me. Hope your Wednesday is a big improvement over mine!

ps i tried to give you an comment that shows the code that wordpress inserts on its own but your comment software pulled them out; let me try again...
wordpress will insert code on it's own which reflows a page; in the form of div tags and p tags which do not include the needed /
Hope that makes more sense

Hope things are better today - walking away from it all for a day fixes it sometimes; so does watching old movies and eating chocolate.
I was also going to mention that with wordpress that it will insert code on it's own that reflows a page; there are tags that insert themselves and refuse to place a tag now and then. I wonder if that is what you are experiencing.
it looks fine from this end today though..

oh my goodness....you are having a time of it....I have had many of those...it used to include my dog, now deceased, whom I am desperately missing these days. Must be retrograde! Hope your week improves... ...It's been an odd few weeks for everyone I’ve talked to ...seems to go in spurts! Sometimes the universe forces us onto another path! I have no doubt there are times when you feel completely overwhelmed trying to get it all done! Tara, take care ! Just do what you can, many things will wait! .Hugs to you across the miles!

I'm so sorry to hear about your "one of Those" days! Those days always make you feel like you cannot catch a break no matter what you do or how hard you try. It just seems to be in the air and you have to deal with your penance till sleep befalls you. Hope you're tomorrow is much better and you sleep well tonight.

How frustrating! I hope things improved with a good ride in the Parisian air!
It seems that some days are just trouble from start to finish. I'd be tempted to crawl into bed and cover my head, hoping that tomorrow would be better.
BTW, I'm looking forward to that talented web designer's return as well, for lots of reasons :)

Hi Tara. I hope your ride/walk turned out to be a good one.
I love jelly glasses, and challenge myself to find new ways to use them.

As Shakespeare (in Julius Ceasar) says: "Beware the ides of March." Maybe they came a day early for you.
PS Brocante shopping with you is so much more fun and less tiring!

Why is it when it rains it pours? Perhaps this day you are having is to get all of it out of the way - thus making way for only good days ahead. I've had days like that - everything I touch becomes a disaster to the point where I have actually sat down and cried to release the frustration.
I truly hope things get sorted with Typepad and the computer company as well.
Now, as to the Brocante...I love seeing all these wonderful treasures, just wish I could be there.
Sending you a calm spirit!
XOXO

I wondered why I couldn't see your blog content last night - I'm so sorry you're having "one of those days." Hope your day gets better quickly. I've just gotten back from the Dr. with my own prescriptions.
I love that little cart, it would look sweet in a garden.

I am off to the 74th Annual Foire Nationale a la Brocante et aux Jambons tomorrow. I hope my day isn't as disastrous as yours but the big plus about today is that the weather in Paris has been PERFECT.

Oh, don't you hate days like this? I am so sorry but perhaps the the fresh air will help to clear all things negative and bring in some postivity!
Here's to better days ahead!

Hope you're back safely-when I'm having a day like yours, I don't get on a bike or cross the street.

Aww, I'm sorry you are having a bad day! I think your page here looks fine, though. But I hope you have a good walk...Oh, poor you, you get to take a walk in Paris! LOL ;)
I love those jelly jars. My favorite kind of glasses.

This is one of those times you have to just drop everything and do exactly what you said: go for a walk or bike ride.
Sending you a bunch of imaginary fragrant lilacs, even though it's too early for them here.

Sorry for the bad start to the day! Do they sell pressurized air (to use for computers) where you are? I sometimes go and squirt the air behind heavy pictures and mirrors-the dust bunnies get loose but you don't have to risk muscle strain moving the object. Great for getting dust off the back of the refer (coils) and the t.v. too.

With a day like thisone...please look carefully where you walk):

Jeeze, you are truly having a bad day. There just isn't anything worse then headbanging because of tech woes. Drives one crazy, truly. I've been thinking of switching to typepad. Now I'm having second thoughts. I have a solution for your woes Tara!! Buy those fabulous blue chairs. They will cheer you right up. LOL
Tara responds:
Annie, thanks, but those chairs aren't my style. And even if they were, there'd be no room for them in our apartment. I thought the interesting item in this photo was the religious statue. It must have come from a convent, school or even a church. As for Typepad, I've recommended it to several people and I still think the service is superior to alternatives on offer. In more than a year of blogging, I've encountered very few glitches and the "help" desk is usually quick to respond to issues.
