Last year I bought an oak school desk and the dealer gave me the 1950s children's book Pour les Enfants Sages by Kate Greenaway. The illustrations are so lovely, they'd look great suitably-framed in a child's room, bedroom, powder room or art studio!

Your book looks beautiful, full of lovely images! You may already be aware of this site, but they have printable images available for download and very often, they feature old children's books, all of them appear to be French. It's nothing like the originals as you have, but it's a fun website to see what they have sometimes.

Beautiful indeed! This post reminds me about the story books I used to read as a child, when I was first spending our on the photos, and only then reading the actual stories.

Aren't they adorable? I have enjoyed reading your latest posts Tara. Your photography of small things and large are always a delight. And congrats on all your winnings. It's nice to have days when everything goes well. (And remember - Bush won't be around for ever! THAT'S got to be good news!)

I've always loved her(KG) illos - this is beautiful. I used to have an antique oak school desk but ended up giving to my youngest nieces to use in their playroom. I wonder if they still use it.

Kate Greenway's art shows life of another time gently, with such tenderness. Like a lullabye.
