A canal runs through the center of Bayeux, Normandy, France.
Just back from Normandy, where it was cold, foggy, misty and beautiful. Have many photos to share, as well as images from two separate trips to Versailles. I'm posting the latter photos slowly, as it is possible to be overwhelmed by excessive amounts of gold gilt. I also have pictures from an excursion to the flea market at Porte de Clignacourt, Paris. Please stop by later today for more photos and a story or two.

A nosegay of purple poesies in Bayeux.

An iron panel in a hotel doorway has been painted white.

A sidewalk sign advertises lunch specials. No, we didn't eat here!.

Can't wait to see the pics Tara, as always. Does it feel good to be home?

Hee! Your photo of the lunch specials reminds me of a trip to Quebec City. I was traveling with my husband, sister-in-law and her 2 kids. We found a great restaurant called Le Cochon Dingue.
Your purple posies are lovely!

I don't know if it's a writer's thing, but word associations play in my head: Bayeux = jambon! Poor piglet!
Lovely photos. My husband's ancestors were from Normandy. Well, a good chunk of Ireland has Norman ancestry!!
I'll be back!

I love the canal pic.......and the colour of the posies......
It was a while ago that I travelled this area, but the pictures in my memory are as vivid as if it were yesterday.......your photos regenerated them for me.
ps. Versailles is an amazing sight to behold. you're right.......you can almost be "blinded" by the gold gilt...... :) or lose your head over it! :)

We visited Bayeux a few years ago. Stayed in the most charming b&b where the girls felt like princesses in a castle. And of course saw the tapstry.
