This photo was taken through a plate glass window of an appointment-only antiques shop on Ile Saint Louis, Paris. I like the simplicity of both the 18th-century chair and the hand-painted serving platter. Even though they're very old, they could blend with almost any modern decor.
Mixing old and new pieces helps give a room character. When choosing items for their home, too many people seem to adopt a "cookie-cutter" designer look. It may appeal to the eye, but it won't feel like home if it's missing key elements of individual taste, personality and flair.

Here, Here, couldn't agree more, you are so right. I love mixing the old with the new. We can't keep living in the past there has to be a NOW.

I mix old and new and I love it! It takes a certain eye...and I am sure many do it much better than I do...

I like that one can mix old and new, develop the character of a space, and still maintain a cohesive theme. Beautiful pic. xx, JP
