Vintage letters from a sign at the French restaurant AU COQ DE BRUYERE, photographed on my dining table. I purchased these wooden letters from Agape in Paris, along with the letter "B" and three large zinc letters, unrelated to the restaurant. Each letter is nearly two feet tall, with faded red paint; the backs are painted green!
Am hoping to eventually collect enough old letters to decorate one wall. The word "DARE" is the short version of my philosophy of life - dare to open your heart; dare to take a risk and dare to try something different.

Such beautiful photos - thanks for the inspiration!

I didn't know that was "my" word but I think it has become so. At least since I've gotten older and am not afraid to take chances.

I love it!
I'm going to us our magnetic kindergarten letters and write "dare" on the fridge!
Dare to love, dare to make a friend, dare to be different...

A wonderful idea Tara. Today I dare myself to try that atc technique I've been thinking about for ages, and feeling scared of failing, thank you.

Looking back, I see all of the fabulous things that have ever happened to me is a result of my willingness to be daring.
Love your DARE letters, beautiful post. Have a wonderful Saturday!

Such a beautiful find! And yes, I fully agree: "Dare!"
I was a little girl when I started blotting dares,
and I have dared ever since.
The last thing anyone will ever be able to accuse me,
is not having tried to dare.
I am working on daring even more, though. :-)
I wish you good luck in your search for a full set of letters and your future dares!

The letters are very funky, but the fabric underneath really caught my eye :) Where did you source it??

Beautiful photos as always and thought-provoking news and updates in between. Dare is a great motto. Your poetry is amazing as well - is there anything you're NOT good at Tara? ;)

What a fun and 'daring' project to fill up an entire wall with words - I like this one, especially - and your definition of what the word means to you. Wonderful! xo

Oh Miss Paris. Yes, I do sooo agree! Daring is good. How ever else would I make the leap?? xxxoooo

We have 2 massive gold letters D and H for Di and Harvey and 1 smaller one - C for Charlotte on our mantlepiece. They came from a famous Northern Pub called The Top Deck. I love them, they are old and battered but that's part of their charm.

I'm not in the least bit daring-- well, maybe just alittle bit. But I do so admire it in others. Great letters.

Brilliant philosophy ... to dare yourself implies challenging yourself and taking a leap of faith. Wonderful. xx, JP

So, do tell, what will you write on the wall?
DARE - I want that to be part of my philisophy also, but it is something I must work on.....
