Photograph of my daughter at age five at a fete at the British Ambassador's residence, Amman, Jordan. This week's Sunday Scribblings prompt is decision. Without a doubt, my best decision was having Jordana.
Safety in numbers
but it was just you and me
together we bloomed

You have a beautiful daughter. I was an only child and it was always "Me and mama against the world". I loved being an only child and still do. When we adopt our daughter, she may or may not be an only, but I hope very dearly that she and I will have the kind of relationship I have had with my mother.

I'm sorry I've been away for so long but glad that I'm reading all that I've missed! She is simply adorable, at 5 her eyes show so much wisdom!! I'm sure it's because she has you as her mother! Such heartfelt poetry, too.

You have a beautiful daughter Tara -- who obviously loves her mom!

Awww. What a cutie pie she was (and what a beauty she is now). (And how happy she's gonna be when she sees all of those beads!) :)

Well, you know how much this would resonate with me.
I love this poem. So few words - but so very powerful. It brought tears to my eyes. (of course it doesn't take much these days).
Jordana looks like a true princess - full of grace - in that picture. Beautiful.

Oh, I know what you mean. In spite of all of my angst, I bless that particular decision every single day!
And your daughter is gorgeous!
This post actually made me tear up...how do you DO that? :)

What a sweet photo. What a great decision. It is a big regret for me to have decided not to have children.
Posted by: Jone | 05 August 2007 at 16:57
ohhhhhhhh she is soooo beautiful and happy....
reminds me of this quote from "the passion"..
"You don't have to ask a child about happy,
you can see it. They are or they are not.
Talking about it is the same as trying to catch
the wind."
I can see "happy" in her eyes:)

What a beautiful girl. Yes, I'm sure she takes after her mother.
Having kids has certainly been the best decision I've ever made.
Great post!

Tara,
A photo and 17 syllables tell the whole story. Great decisions always come from the heart.

Tara, I still can’t comment so I will just email you! Your Sunday scribblings brought tears to my eyes. I too thought that was a younger version of you! What a doll! You made the right choice, which I have a feeling you do most of the time! Each child is such a gift...
...Also a wonderful choice to have Pepper! I was married for 12 years before deciding to have a child! Thanks for sharing this intimate post with us! Again such a beautiful girl with a precious name, and phenomenal mum! I have no doubt your daughter will also make a difference, just like you!

Oh Tara. Jordana is gorgeous! i thought it was a younger Tara. I sincerely admire you - and your decision to have Jordana. Like I said in Paris, you are one of my mummy idols. You are not only beautiful, you have presence and depth. If I grow up to be half the woman you are, I'd be happy with myself.
Big hugs and hell yes, it was the best decision to have Jordana. She cannot ask for a better mum.
Love, Nina xxxx
