You've seen on both my blog and Di's (Designers' Block UK) examples of the diverse selection of antiques and collectibles that can be found at the twice-annual brocante and ham fair at Chatou, just west of Paris. But did you know the brocante is hosted on Ile de Chatou, a small island next to the Seine? If you look closely, to the left of the photo, you can see traces of vendors' stands. To walk to and from the town of Chatou, you cross the bridge, on which these lovely pots of flowers are suspended.
En route to the RER train station at Chatou Croissy, you can stop for a spin on the carousel. Want to ask the Genie for a ride on his magic carpet? Where would you like to go today? I'm thinking Peru - what about you?

I'm thinking Paris.
You lucky woman!!!

Down by the river ... so beautiful!

I have been missing out on your fabulous blog all this time? I lived most of my childhood in Saint Germain en Layes, so I'm pretty familiar with that RER line. Le Vesinet, Le peck. This brings back memories of riding the RER towards Paris dreaming of a bigger life. Now my life is bigger but I dream of sausisson and broquante!

Lovely pictures ... I just want to float down the river! What a great setting for the brocante. As far as a magic carpet ride ... I'm thinking Paris ;-) xx, JP/deb

LOL - I meant the carpet being magical, not me...although that would be fun!

What an enchanting location for the brocante - a perfect setting for a bazaar or a magic carpet ride. I'd like to see Paris or London - perhaps being magical, I could do both - first one, then the other? Thank you for the ride!~xox
