A crystal beaded headpiece, glittering evening wear and fur for a holiday gala at Galeries Lafayette, Paris.
Check in daily for more photos of Paris shop windows, dressed in seasonal finery. And I'm hosting a little holiday giveaway. On Friday, Dec. 7, I will draw a name from those readers leaving comments for this post. The winner will receive a copy of Rumi: The Book of Love, as well as a holiday souvenir from Paris.

Wow..stunning. This is my first time visiting your web log, and I love it.

ah....memories of one of my nine lives of careers (and my favorite) - visual merchandising - and the fun of holiday windows! I like to think I got the job because of my vast creative powers....but I think it was more my tiny size - you need to be small to maneuver around those windows of props! And working front-to-back, without the ability to stand back and check it all out - except to run outside - makes for some fun "mistakes"!
this one is stunning....and I love the layers of sparkle. there's nothing like holiday windows to make us all feel like celebrating. I may design & decorate for a living, but at this time of the year, everyone seems to get into it & make everything more beautiful.
Happy holidays, Tara :)

Oh la la!!! Love the headdress and the chandelier. I am telling myself that is *fake* fur!! The holidays windows are even more spectacular than during the rest of the year...if that is possible :)

Tara, Thank you so much for including these pictures of window displays. I have only visited Paris once but I was enthralled with the window displays as I am from a small town and rarely get to see such extravagant work. Thank you again so much for your blog as it gives me a little drink of Paris every day to quench my thirst! Sheilah

I can't comment on the post below this one, because the comment function is closed, so forgive me for doing so here. What a very moving event---I would have felt teary, too. I hope this protest worked and that the people who merit help and compensation and remembrance get all of that in abundance. Thank you, sweet Tara, for sharing this story.

I adore these windows you show...it's like stepping out with you each day. All we need is the little cafe and a couple of hot drinks to "discuss".

These windows are all works of art! But what else would one expect in Paris, non?
A holiday feast for the eyes :)

Really elegant and magical-looking. It's almost like fairies do this work, how often does anyone catch designers in the windows at work? :-)
Kind of a dream job, I think!

Art/Paris/Holidays...there is nothing like this anywhere else I've seen. Store windows here in Toronto are "boring" in comparison. It is de rigeur in Paris..here it would be seen as overdone or excessive. I say Vive la difference!!! And I'm grateful as always that you are opening the doors and windows to the world for all of us!

OH me Oh my!!! I thought we learned that wearing chandeliers on our heads could lead to certain death (did we learn that from Celine Dion at her wedding or something? I can't recall) Needless to say.... It is incredible! Art in windows!!!! AMazing!! Love it!! Oh I am so glad you are there to share with us!!!!! xoxoxooxoxo

I am always surprised to see such works of art. I was at a trade school and learnd to decorate a shop window. In Paris you have to go to art school however I think.
