Photo of bust and various items for a dressing table at Sophie Pretelat's Anges et Demons stand at the Antiquites Brocante at Place de la Bastille, Paris. Pretelat's superb display skills with antiques and collectibles are featured in the new book Secrets d'Interieurs by Michele Lalande and Gilles Trillard. The book will be released December 1 in the UK, US and Canada as The New French Decor.
Next week, public transport in Paris will be affected by a series of strikes. So I'm off today for a second round of treasure-hunting at Bastille. The brocante continues daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Nov. 18, strikes or no strikes. Happy hunting!

Oooo...I'm coveting everything in this photo- Thanks for the 'scoop' on the book!

Now...if I only had a dressing table...
I know the book. It makes me swoon. Quick, where are the smelling salts?

Hi, Tara-- Your photo is glorious and makes me long for a fast trip to Paris right now! Hope you had good luck on your return visit to Bastille, and that you will post your latest treasures. Enjoy the weekend, and especially the unexpected thrills of the hunt! Your fan, Joan

We went to the brocante yesterday and it was fabulous! Everything indoors was a bit out of our reach, though, although I did nearly lose my heard to a wonderful green 1930's hat in the outdoor part... and so much lace! Got the new blog started, although I don't have my new camera yet, but give me another couple of days... :)

Amazing photograph. Thank you for opening up my world that much more each day. I so appreciate it more than you know.
As for our stress...yes, a spa day is in order. Maybe soon, who knows?
I just know you will have fun shopping. Remember what Mum always tells me when I feel like this. Stop and think if what is bothering you will matter a year from now? If the answer is no, breathe in and let it go.

The man at the postal office across the street from me is Turkish. When I have no makeup on I think he likes that...old school look...I can look Indian, Spanish, Turkish...people never know. Maybe it is the olive skin...anyways.
He says to me, flirting, "You have a friend in Paris?"
"Oui," says I.
We both started giggling. It was funny, in a flirty, dumb kind of way. It's those moments of lightness that cheer me up. You would have giggled too!
xoxooEnjoy enjoy enjoy!

Beautiful imagery (why is it that I am noticing sunglasses everywhere?). With beautiful things like these, even I might become a fleemarket devotee. Good hunting to you! :-)

What a lovely arrangement and photo, Tara.
I hope the upcoming strikes don't last too long - or prevent you from attending your beloved brocante. Bonne chance! -xOx

You always have such wonderful treasures to show. Always a treat to come here. Congrats on your 1000th post. That pic of the empty birdcage with the open door is totally awesome and inspiring.
