I am off to London; back at the end of the week. All being well, timed posts will appear in my absence. A photo of the exterior of a 15th-century church in York, England.
The well-worn interior of the ancient church features original stained-glass windows.
A memorial chapel honouring British soldiers.
A stone statue on the chapel's exterior wall.
A stained-glass arched window in a small church in York.
Three shop buildings in The Shambles area of York.
Tudor architecture is found throughout the city.
Tourists flock to York's streets of shops.
Gert and Henry's Cafe is a local institution, most recently known for its burgers.
A bridge leads to an old warehouse.
An industrial building is being converted into apartments and shops.
York Minster Cathedral glimpsed through a side street.

You know the old saying "Great minds think alike", well, great minds must also blog alike. I just put up some posts about our trip to York as well. I wish I'd known about that church, I love wandering around old church yards. As the Minster was peeking up behind, it must have not been far off.

This is a lovely photo essay! England is my "soul home" and I love any photo, book, story, newspaper, telly show, or accent that connects me! But I've never been to York -- you show me what I am missing! Have a lovely time in London!

Great pictures! Thanks for sharing. That will be on my list of places to visit. The streets reminded me of Harry Potter; they did a great job of recreating the town feeling in that movie.

These brought back some nice memories - we walked these very streets on our visit a few years ago. I have a photo of myself seated in one of those box pews in that chapel, and I'm short enough that my head is barely visible over top of it!
We were amused at the electric keyboard, drum set, and amplifiers that were stationed in the chancel area of that chapel - apparently it's used for "contemporary service" now.
Enjoy your visit to London!
