Birdcages and wallpaper panels dominate a display at a children's shoe store.
These children's shoes aren't cheap! The Marc Jacobs "mini" shoes (center) are 150 or 160 euros, depending upon the size. That's $219 or $233 for a pair of shoes they'll soon outgrow!
American Keds in a variety of colours are popular with French children.

Those aren't keds... they are converse all-stars (Chuck Taylors), however they appear to be knock-offs. It's actually better to buy knock-offs these days, as Nike bought Converse several years ago. They used to be made in the US once upon a time.
I'm just a random person who's spent a lot of time trying to find non-sweatshop shoes and similar rarities. (in case anyone's wondering, No Sweat Apparel is the best place for this style of sneaker with morally acceptable compensation for the workers)
Tara responds:
The label says Keds, although I don't know where they're produced.

well ofcourse... trés décadent!
remembering the price of an espresso on blvd. des italiens some years ago... euro 6,95... and being insulted after...
paris had spoiled it for me for good!
on my next visits to france i decided to make a detour around paris, heading south were coffee and croissants still can be enjoyed for reasonable prices and friendly people.

They're adorable - but I can't imagine paying those kind of prices for children's shoes. I suppose there must be someone out there that will, but wouldn't it be nice if they bought the keds instead, and spent the rest of the money they would have on those shoes and used it to help children that have no shoes?
As always, I enjoyed windowshopping with you~xOx

I love the shoes! I could never shop there for my girls. They are so shoe crazy the both of them that I must look for cheaper versions. (Leather is a must however, or their tiny little feet end up stinking! I found out the hard way...LOL) They each have enough shoes to give Imelda a run for her money!!!

Very expensive, but I've gotta love the cat shoes! One would think you could come up with a more reasonably priced, equally cute version, though!

Crazy prices for shoes that will only be worn a few times. You usually find that they are fashion shoes so therefore they will not take the usual wear and tear.
