Construction is underway on a new tennis stadium at Roland Garros, home of the French Open Tennis Championships.
New tennis courts are being built at Roland Garros, Paris. This year's French Open tournament gets underway on May 25th, with the final on June 8th.
A giant crane is suspended over the main stadium at Roland Garros.
Tennis balls hit outside the courts lie on the ground at Roland Garros. All the courts are covered in green tarps, to protect the surface from winter elements.
Pools of water collected on the tarps covering tennis courts at Roland Garros. The stadium is a ten-minute walk from our apartment on the Western edge of Paris.

Hi, nice to learn u live near roland garros. it's been my desire to watch the French Open. at least, i have a friend there in you. i play tennis at the trivandrum tennis club (www.ttc.org.in) which too has excellent clay courts. last year, we organised a WTA tournament 'Kerala Open'. a small one, with $25,000/- prize money but players who came from as far as venezeula and australia were given free stay and transport which earned us a lot of goodwill. this year, it is being held from May 5th to 9th. Our long term ambition is to make it the most important tennis tournament played on clay courts after roland garros .

Every year I watch the French Open on telly, with the hope that Amelie might one time hold the trophy. The courts look so lonely here, it's an amazing difference to what we see on tv. Hope that the renovation is ready for the open.

Hope the new courts will be ready on time !!!
My son can't wait... and I happily play his driver... (unless he passes his driving licence next April !!!)
We together haven't missed the event for the last 9 or 10 years now... but I must confess that I've never ever seen such a chaos at Roland-Garros !!!

I've been so bad about getting around. Just the busy stuff of life. I hope it ends soon. Ah, and who would be to blame for that, Mary? Gee, she said laughing at herself the most, I don't know...:{ !

Dear Tara,
Actually I also wanted to thank you for your very nice and "muy simpaticos" comments. I'm sure you miss Sevilla and may be Andalusia as a whole ? As you may know, lots of expats commute between Spain and England or France and Spain.
But isn't Paris such a brilliant "moveable feast" ? I'll be going to Paris next friday but very shortly as i'm then going to Orléans which is near a place you seem to like, Amboise.
Ah les châteaux de la Loire...Le berceau de la France, as it is named.
