Tara, when you have a chance check out Frontline at pbs.org. This week they are doing an amazing 4 1/2 hour doc called "Bush's War" which is an accurate look at what went on leading up to the war -- long before 9/11 -- and the players. It's sort of scary how power corrupts. It may not be online for viewing yet, but all the Frontline's are within a week or so of their broadcast. It's really compelling television. I just wish it weren't a true story.

Tara responds:
Thanks Jeanie. The Frontline piece is mentioned in my "Presidential leadership qualities" piece.

I read this whole article earlier this morning and I am shocked and saddened that a supposedly civilised society can put a young man through this sort of thing for so long. Shameful!

this is SO incredible Tara! How come the international community (an northamerican people) tolerate this? I wonder....Why justice exists only for a few and others may do whatever they want against all international laws and humanity?

How come Guatanamo may exists...?

Tara responds:
Catalina, that's what we'd all like to know. Guantanamo is against everything in our Constitution and everything we as Americans believe in. The Supreme Court said Guantanamo "courts" and "trials" are unconstitutional, but the Bush administration concocted this kangaroo court - using fear tactics to make the previous Republican-led Congress complicit - by passing a bill that allows certain "trials." It is a travesty of justice and violates international law and human rights. Am hoping that the new president will shut Guantanamo down - it is an outrage!

It's so disheartened to read this. Thank you for posting it, as maybe someone through someone else will read this and be able to help Jawad.

Dear Tara,
