Side view of an old stone windmill in the Bois du Boulogne, Paris.
A closer look at the windmill, built on a tiny island.
A plant-lined pathway leads to the windmill entrance.
A small moat surrounds the structure.
Trees and flowers planted along the moat.
Hints of spring, with a glimpse of Hippodrome de Longchamp bleachers in the background.
The caretaker's cottage, near the windmill.
A medley of fuschia and orange to brighten up the grey, gloomy Paris weather.

What a wonderful windmill! The pathway is so tumbledown and charming.

Hard to believe such a windmill exists right in the middle of Paris - so charming! It must be beautiful there right now ~ we are still waiting for signs of Spring in New England, though there are tiny buds sprouting on my lilacs! "Hope springs.." and all ... xo Deb

As a real Dutch person I grew up close to a windmill but this one is one out of a Fairy tale as is the building. Great

Oh wow fantastic greenery and photographs, love this!

What profusion of early spring flowers in that beautiful large fuchsia bed!
Vienna's location (few people think it's actually east of Prague!) seems to ensure more sunny days. We have had many beautiful days lately and during the last few days the clouds that are travelling through have been chased by a strong wind, giving us glimpses of brilliant sunshine in between.

I'm in the Admirals' Club at JFK, reading your blog and thinking that it's high time I visted the Bois de Boulogne. I never have! Your photos are, as usual, just lovely.
See you Friday!

Enchanting photographs. The caretakers windmill is fascinating architecture to say the least.
Greatly admire your entire blog. Charmingly remarkable!

We've never yet made it to the Bois de Boulogne -- maybe this visit, inspired by that windmill.

At least there are blooms. Still waiting for spring here, although the temperatures are rising a bit.
Gorgeous photos. xoxo

The steps leading up to that windmill look mythical, magical, almost like it isn't even real. What a beautiful place, thank you so much for sharing!!!
I need this now, we are expecting more snow tonight on top of the 30cm we already had!!! So tired of winter, and after seeing this post-longing that much more for Spring!

Listen Tara,
They just don't make windmills like that in New Jersey! :-)
Thank you for giving me my dose of what I adore about Europe. It's fun to jump across the pond, without leaving my house!

The pink flowers are pretty - are they masses of heather? I wonder how old the windmills actually are in these photos?

I was on facebook and one of my notifications told me that you were "tilting at windmills" -- yes, you are!!! :) I love this windmill -- it reminds me of one of Joanne Harris' books. Many of your photographic posts do come to think of it!! The fact that her books are generally based in France might be why!! LOL!! I've forgotten what spring is -- can you remind me please??? We have another 2 cms. of snow to drop tonight. I think the sky has been holding this forever and finally decided to let it all go in one winter!

Each time I see windmills I can't help think of Don Quixote from Man of La Mancha...one of my faves. The windmills were gorgeous. Looking at your photo wants me to go out and get a picture of one myself.

What a beautiful, romantic setting. Like something you'd see in a novel! I love your early Paris spring, too. This reminds me of something I'd read a wonderfully romantic (or possibly spooky) story about! A grand motivation for a writing project!
Thanks for always posting these terrific photos. They really touch me and make me eager to get to France!
Thanks also for visiting the Marmelade Gypsy and entering a vote of support for "Let Rick Ride!" He's got lots of terrific support from across the US, but I bet you're the only one out of country!

Tara, my jaw just dropped to the floor. You always have beautiful pictures but these are out of a legend. Where is Don Quijote?
