VW bug on the corner of Robson Street, May 24th, Vancouver, British Columbia.
If the car decorated with whimsical messages of peace and love isn't enough to bring a smile to your face this Monday morning, this hilarious short video set to The Beatles' song Drive my Car should do the trick.
Imagine the hours of effort it took to create this bold statement.
In the car's back seat, a small fountain gurgles away.
In your own life, are you a driver or a passenger?

I think I am a driver. Sometimes, I am an annoying passenger driver. I am even sometimes, a backseat driver. I am also a whining backseat vertigo car sick driver sometimes too. Isn't that just such an awful thing to know about me??? ;) ;)
But, What I do know for certain... Is that I need that car. I want to find an old car, just so I can do that to it!
FUN!! So delighted you shared this!! xoxoxo

I would say I'm a driver wouldn't you?
Imagine cleaning that thing!

Diane and I saw this car while shopping in February. Too cute! I think there was incense burning on the front hood somewhere too.
I am a bit of both. I don't mind letting someone else drive sometimes. But mostly I drive. I like to be in control of my own destiny. (The life is mine to live, after all.)

I forgot to add that I don't have a car anymore, so where does that put me?!
lol.

Interesting question. I'd say that to the world at large I look like I'm a passenger. However, I believe myself to be the driver of my own life. That is, I choose to do that which I want to do in the way I want to do it. Perhaps the real answer is that I am both.

I've seen a similar car in Toronto. It was years ago...maybe it was the same car!
I've learned the hard way to be my own driver. I have my licence now ;)

I love it! Pretty sure I'm a driver in my life although I've been letting go of the wheel a lot more often lately. Probably against the road rules, huh?

I've seen a few art cars in my time but this one takes the cake. Fabulously imaginative and over the top.

I've gotta say it: whoever created and drives that car is one Bold Soul. Totally awesome, dude.

Fun to see this Vancouver landmark (can a moving object even be a landmark -- well, you know what I mean) on your Paris blog. We pass this Bug regularly. Long, long before it became a fixture, though, the Vancouver Island writer/poet Susan Musgrave was driving a similarly-decorated vehicle (well, hers was not nearly so extravagant but since no one else was doing this at the time, it really stood out) You can see a photo of her in this car at her website, on the Publicity Photos page if you're interested. Her biography matches the wildness of her vehicle quite well -- she was long known as the Sea-Witch of West Coast writing.

Wow. And we only have the LEGO car! I thought for sure you were going to say that you saw this car on Haight Street!
How fun! What kind of car was it before they decorated it, do you suppose?
