An indoor shopping mall. All photos of China by Marie-Claire Holmes.
Sports shoes galore - no comment on the quality or the knock-off designs.
A new business, with the traditional bouquets wishing for prosperity and fortune.
Ready to cook.
Fruit and vegetable markets are open, even at night.
Carefully-arranged fruit at another stall.
A fruit smoothie stand.
Selling sweets.
A one-dish meal.
Selling ears of corn.
A family effort.
Baskets of produce.
A covered market.
A vendor holds up her baby.
The butcher.
Carrefour supermarket, which in this photo, looks remarkably similar to the ones in France.
Bagging rice. Check back Wednesday for Part III of the China series.

I love seeing all the market photos - I admit, having heard some horror stories, I was a little nervous, when I first scrolled down, but everything looks so nice - though I probably don't want to know what's being offered at the butcher's, lol.
Loved seeing the kids hunkered down with books at the newstand in the market - just like some other kids I know!

Dear Tara,
This is the chef in Christina writing this note. She wants me to thank you for the pictures you shared on your blog. She would type this herself but she is busy still looking at your wonderful food pics.

I LOVE street food photos! And the squid on sticks! Bring 'em on! How completely exotic and fascinating.
