Yoi

Tara thank you for posting this, you will find many defensive of Pallin but none able to tell you what the woman stands for or is able to clarify on her own.

Diane Bronstein

I am so thankful for this post. Just this weekend I stopped by my community pool and was introduced to some very accomplished women. I brought up Sarah Palin and how I did not agree with her policies. First of all the women were so very upset that I did not like Palin because after all she was a woman..... I replied I vote on issues. Then they refused to believe " the bridge to nowhere and the banning of books issues." These women thought I was not telling the truth.
Now how to we get the message to people like this ? There are times I feel like I am batting my head up against a wall........

I'm fascinated (and albeit a bit disgusted) as to how much the Dems find Sarah Palin such a threat to Mr. Obama's campaign. They're scared!

Now if they would put as much effort into giving us (yet undecided voters) a real reason to vote for the Democratic ticket--as they are working so hard to smear Mrs. Palin, I might listen. The alphabet soup of unsubstantiated claims and invented hearsay is really hitting a all-time low, in my book. I probably won't bother to show up at the polls in November--as the "peace, love and kumbayah ticket is getting pretty hypocritical.

Tara responds:
The Democrats aren't trying to smear Sarah Palin; they're trying to find out who she is. It's difficult when she keeps repeating the same false stories (i.e. about the Bridge to Nowhere; her earmark applications that even McCain criticised; stalling a legislative investigation against her, etc. etc.). What's interesting to me is even after the press has called her out on these falsehoods, she repeated them more than 18 times over the course of a weekend. Not exactly a "reformer," as she claims.

I hope you will consider Obama's progressive platform. Would you really want to endure another four years of disastrous Republican policies - plus losing women's right to choose and having an ultra-conservative court system, as well as more and more war? Because that's what you'll get with McCain. And unless you're very wealthy and would benefit from McCain's tax cuts for the rich, I don't see how you could remain silent in an election when the direction of our country is at stake.

Tara,

I had planned to take a vacation in my brain from Sarah Palin, but that's easier said than done. I did read the Frank Rich column and now will read the others here, as well as Triumph the Insult Dog because that might really help me mentally.

Tara, thank you for sharing your information and for your ongoing commentary on this issue. You and your readers might also be interested in an excellent opinion piece that appeared in the New York Times recently. I had been trying to figure out exactly why Palin's nomination was bothering me so much, aside from the obvious reasons, and why I felt it was such an affront (and embarrassment) to all women. The writer expresses what I was feeling very eloquently.

Why can't Americans see these blatant lies and the misinformation being given out about Palin? Well, of course they do, but they chose not to listen. Btw, did you read Frank Rich's article in the Sunday NYT? If not, here it is.

Everyone needs to know this stuff!

Interesting enough Tara, the file came up damaged and unable to repair! And then my computer shut down...hum wonder how that happened? Thanks for trying to share. Did you see the Jon Stewart show with the comparison of the speeches of Bush and McBush? Do they not know what video cameras actually do? That we can see them over and over and again? Or maybe not... Scary.

Tara respond:
Leau, do you have Firefox? If so, it should work properly. I didn't try it using Internet Explorer. When on when will they get their act together so that the internet works the same on all platforms - Firefox, IE, Safari and now Google's new browser (haven't tried yet)?
