Longtime antiques dealer James Jaulin is known for his unusual objects with decorative flair, including vintage weather vanes, directional signs, wine rattes and tools. Jaulin is the author of the book Parole d'Objets. If you're attending the 77th Foire Nationnale aux Antiquites, a la Brocante et aux Jambons at Ile de Chatou, make a point of stopping by Jaulin's stand. The brocante begins at 10 a.m. Friday, September 25 and continues daily through October 5th.
An iron cross and assorted vintage tools.
A copper mould and zinc weathervane.
More weathervanes feature the sun and a hunting scene.
Artifacts from Asia and Africa.
Monsieur and Madame Jaulin hold a vintage puppet and share a laugh in March at Chatou, after Mme. Jaulin's comment that her husband's hat and beard gave him a striking resemblance to Santa Claus.

Wonderful puppet!
(Monsieur Jaulin reminds me more of the faces on one of those mugs - I've been sitting here trying to think of the name - are they by Pfaltxgraf? I'm probably getting it all mixed up...The ceramic mugs with the faces of sea captains and fishermen. At any rate, he's very distinguished-looking!)

Stunning images, Tara. I love it when you go off antiquing and share your beautiful photographs with us. It's downright inspiring!

What beautiful weathervanes!! I love them!
Did he have those lightening rods? Those are cool. In Ontario antique shops, they are quite popular.
Don't tell him I said so, but he looks more like the traveling gnome from Amelie!!!
