"A poet's work is to name the unnameable; to point at frauds; to take sides; start arguments; shape the world and stop it from going to sleep." - Salman Rushdie

Thank you, dear Allegra. I am feeling exactly the same way as you. Thanks for your insightful remarks and your support throughout the campaign. We did it! Yes we did! And now we get the chance to make things right, the way our country once was and will be again. We can come out of the shadows and into the light! Hallelujah!
Happy New Era, dear Tara. And to all your readers, Happy New America from here on. No sacrifice is too big, no help will ever be too small to build a once and future great country. We are one people and it is time we finally get the chance to act as one. I am giddy, happy, emotional, smiling and tearing up very easily since yesterday. It has become more and more real that we are almost out of the Shadows. They will take with them fear and paranoia, distrust and greed, lies and the wish to sell our country's soul for a barrel of oil, and we shall overcome. We can do it, and we will. If anyone here is interested in working to help now please check this address: http://www.usaservice.org/content/home/.
An old refrain comes to mind as the most criminal, cynical and dishonorable chapter in our history is coming to a close: never again.
I love how the cards read leading one to another, like verses or stanzas...little poems of inspiration. Tomorrow is a new day!
Lovely tribute, Tara~xOx
It IS a very exciting day. I woke up early, after staying up until 2. Am off to run errands, then come back and watch the hoopla on BBC and CNN. Wish I were in Washington, but I think it will be crowded enough with everyone celebrating the dawn of a new era. xoxox
Every step we take...and we are taking one giant leap tomorrow! There were so many people taking part in the National Day of Service today...heartening and hopeful.
Jen is a very inspiring woman. And YES WE CAN - this election proved for me that we can do anything we focus our hearts and minds on...we can make it happen! xoxox
Oh these cards...be still my heart. They are very powerful. We CAN do anything. Now I feel so outrageously courageous!!!! I'm tackling my unspoken dream TODAY.
xoxo
What a wonderful experience that must have been, Leau! Yes, we must be brave, no matter what. Our work as a nation is still ahead. Thankfully, we'll have a strong, wise leader at the helm for this part of the journey. xoxox
You know, the other night I felt very anxious for some reason. I did my nightly ritual of reading before bed. Finally I walked outside with the dogs and these same sorts of thoughts drifted into my head (not quite as fanciful!) and I found myself saying them aloud. After awhile, my head had cleared and I was calm. Amazing how repeating positive things to oneself takes the fog away and shows peace is there if only you look for it.

When I visited Atlanta years ago, we got to march from the Ebenezer Church to the MLK memorial. I cried the whole way. These are equally as moving to me. You can be brave in the dark. I love that one best! thanks for sharing and the lace is a perfect background. smooches
PS: Yeah! It's almost tomorrow!!
These cards!!! They made me feel a physical reaction in my belly. I want to write them on my walls, I want to remember thier words, everyday... I love them... Thank you for sharing them Miss Tara. They epitomize how I feel, and what I try to embrace in my life! xoxoxox
These cards are speaking to my heart. Bliss.
I have found this MLK day to be so much more, emotional, loving, and inspiring. Who would have thought, that could be.
What a beautiful road that Dr. King and so many others paved. Tomorrow is the day that we witness, Barack Obama become president of the united states.I want to fill the joy, pride and love that is swirling around my community on this day and bottle it for each child to open whenever doubt, enters their minds.
Lala, thank you. It IS a great day, for all the world, I think. The French are almost as thrilled as I am. :) xo

Brenda, a little positive thinking - and reassurance - is always a good thing and we can always use more of it!
Posted by: Tara Bradford | 19 January 2009 at 18:10
Oh and the lace? I think it's really a curtain - 19th-century French. I have it draped over a library table. :)
