Bridal veil and orange blossoms, circa 1920, found at a brocante at Montreuil-sur-Mer, France.
"Let all thy joys be as the month of May and all thy days be as a marriage day." - Francis Quarles.
My daughter is getting married! Jordana will wed her fiance Keith on Saturday, May 2 in Savannah, Georgia. Jordana - who works for a fashion house in Philadelphia - has designed her own dress and veil. Yours truly will photograph the momentous occasion (no pressure, then)! Won't you join me in wishing the happy couple much joy in their life together?

Wow, Tara I just read through about your daughter's wedding. Sending my best wishes to the family. Btw, I saw her photo in another post, she is so pretty :)

I sincerely wish them a blessing.... a life of love and happiness and compromise and partnership and trust and respect. A life where two people came together as whole beings facing this next leg of the journey in the same direction, on the same path but on their own footing. May they stroll hand in hand towards their future together!!
XOXOXO
p.s. can't wait to see the pictures!

The only reason I can think that I missed this is....when you posted this it was Julians birthday! So I just happened to miss this one post.
I am so sorry! Please do not take it as a slight.
Many congratulatoins to Jordana and Keith, she will make a beautiful bride. I can't wait to hear all about the wedding...and see your glorious photos of the occasion.

Thank you so much, Chris. I'm afraid you'll have to wait until after May 2 - and I know you have better things to do with your time! :)
Posted by: Tara Bradford | 15 April 2009 at 02:28
Thank you, Susanna! No, she won't be wearing the antique orange blossoms or that veil. She's designed her own veil and the orange blossoms won't work.
Posted by: Tara Bradford | 15 April 2009 at 02:28
Well you know I am Wonder Woman in disguise. :) Fingers crossed, I can pull it off. Thanks for the encouraging words.
Posted by: Tara Bradford | 15 April 2009 at 02:26
Congratulations, Tara! That's exciting news!! I'm looking forward to seeing your photographs of the big day. Will she be wearing the antique orange blossom wreathe at her wedding?

Will wait here!
In the meantime... All best wishes to them and to you...

Let's just hope the photos of the happy event live up to the hype and anticipation! Such pressure. :) Thanks for the good wishes; my daughter will be grateful you took the time to write.

Thank you so much, Gillian! I, too, am a fan of Kahlil Gibran's poetry. One of his poems was part of my own wedding ceremony.
Posted by: Tara Bradford | 14 April 2009 at 21:18
Oh Katherine, how exciting that you're getting married in May, as well! Hope you'll post some photos of the happy event. No doubt your ceremony will be beautiful, as well as very special. I appreciate your good wishes for Jordana. As for the veil and orange blossoms, I'm amazed at how well both have held up since 1920. Except for one tiny mark - where apparently a pin was placed to hold on the band of orange blossoms - it's in perfect condition.

Raquel, your lovely sentiments are much appreciated! Thank you so much.
Posted by: Tara Bradford | 14 April 2009 at 21:15

Merci bien, Martina! Let's hope the actual event lives up to all the anticipation! :)
Posted by: Tara Bradford | 14 April 2009 at 21:12
I don't think I'll get to wear a hat, as it's an evening garden wedding - which is just as well, as I'll be busy dealing with the camera gear! Thanks for the lovely thoughts for the happy couple. xoxox

Merci, dear TB! Jordana will be happy to get your message. On Sunday night she was telling me she and K watched a film that the Boy had with him when we were in San Fran. xoxox

Thank you, Ally. I'm a little nervous about the photos, but it is hoped all will be right on the day.
Posted by: Tara Bradford | 14 April 2009 at 21:07
Emilie, thanks so much. Will pass your very kind message along to Jordana. My wedding anniversary is in May, as well. What day is your birthday? I had ordered "miguet des bois" before Allegra suggested it - it's a very traditional flower for the first Sunday in May in France. It's sold on street corners here for about five euros a bunch. Alas, it's not so easily attainable in the US and can cost 20 times its actual value (at the source)!
Posted by: Tara Bradford | 14 April 2009 at 21:06
Thanks so much, Lisa! Let's hope the pics live up to the anticipation. :)
