Petals from pink blossoms scattered on the street where I live.
Breaking news: Senator Arlen Specter, a Republican since 1966, has just announced he is switching parties! Specter said he decided to become a Democrat because the Republicans had "moved too far to the right."
Meanwhile, Texas Governor Rick Perry called for secession from the Union; then appealed to the federal government for help, at the first sign of swine flu. Talk about an abrupt about-face! And the Republicans continue to try to block Kathleen Sibelius to head Health and Human Services. Seems like we need someone in that position at the moment, politics aside. Of course in this case, it's a little like casting pearls before swine. I'm so tired of certain politicans putting their own interests ahead of the people.
Speaking of swine (flu), I'm not exactly thrilled to be getting on an Atlanta-bound plane early tomorrow morning, especially after the European Union health commissioner cautioned against non-essential travel to the US and Mexico. But I suspect attending my daughter's wedding in Savannah counts as essential.
Thanks for all your lovely email and good wishes. Will catch up with you next week!

No wonder your photos made it to the front cover of a magazine. This is so beautiful.
Greetings from London.

I know you are very busy right now, but when life is at a more normal pace, pop by today's post at dutchbaby, I have a little surprise for you.

Your daughter's wedding - absolutely essential!!! Congratulations to one and all, how very very exciting. The news here in California (I assume the wedding is in SF?) about the flu thing is that it's beginning to act like an ordinary flu. There are cases here and except for some school closings because of unfortunately timed Mexico field trips, no one is wearing masks or doing anything different it seems.

I hope your trip is lovely and kissed with sweetness.
I just have to say, Rick Perry is an embarrassment to me as a Texan!

I know that street :)
Do you know, my dad used the word 'swine' as a curse word. In NZ it's not uncommon to say, 'He's a bit of a swine' if you're saying someone's not at all nice. Well ... my dad's generation anway.
Travel safe!

((On a side note, did you hear the news that Arlen Specter, R-PA has switched?! When the MN Sup. Ct. confirms Franken, the Dems will have a filibuster-proof majority:)))

I hear ya! My daughter lives in Southern California and I am none too happy! As for Texas, you gotta love politics in the USA! Dear God!
Beautiful and peaceful photo as usual... Thank you, for I consider these little gifts to enlighten the spirit!

Oh yes, safe travels.....why do I feel this is then 'next big thing' to inspire fear in us, as others above has said take normal precautions (airline travel is ALWAYS a great way to get sick) AND enjoy the wedding....I cannot even imagine how lovely Savannah will be this time of year!!!

Nothing like a good plague story to get us all wobbly kneed. A face mask could become this year's must have accessory. Take care though. Great pics, wonderful to be in Paris.

Beautiful blossoms. I wish you a great trip. Best wishes to the bride, groom, m-o-b and f-o-b. Stay healthy!

My daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter were boarding a plane for a week's holiday in Mexico just as the news was breaking. They're far away from the centres of concern, but a grandma/mom still worries. Still, considering the risks we've normalized as acceptable each day (apparently here in Canada, 4000 die annually of 'regular' flu -- 30,000 in the U.S., I believe) the panic over this latest threat is predictably overdone. As Yoli says, above, follow recommended precautions, but above all, enjoy the wedding. Best wishes to the bride and groom!
(and I love this photo of the chestnut blooms -- charming.)

Just take the necessary universal precautions. If you have some pretty gloves wear them, no matter how old fashioned it might seem. Wash your hands often, have some Purell in your purse if you cannot get to a bathroom to wash your hands. Wishing you the best, I am so excited for you and Jordana!!!
