Pink roses, Paris.
Anxious friends and relatives are gathered at Charles de Gaulle, waiting for news of the Air France flight that disappeared en route from Rio de Janeiro to Paris. The flight was carrying 216 passengers and 12 crew members.
The Airbus 330-200 encountered turbulent weather and Air France authorities say they fear the plane's electrical system failed, causing the plane to crash. A search and rescue operation is underway in the Atlantic.

I followed this on the French channel tonight, reporting straight from France. It's such a dredfully tragic thing. I pray for all the families of the "disparus."

Horrible!
One of the worst things imaginable, truly!

Tara,
I also heard that 7 children and 1 baby were on board. As a mother, I cannot fathom the pain and the tragedy of it all. I am very, very stressed about this situation. I was in a plane from Miami to Buffalo that almost crashed because it was flying through a storm. It's all very traumatizing!

Oy! I didn't know... I always worry as my sister is a flight attendant!

What is sad? What is happy? What is the difference?
Here is something sad:

Perhaps there is a larger view, in that our end will come. Thousands die every day, in small corners of the world. And of course that is equally sad and terrible as well. Had we a choice in the matter, who would not chose to be among friends - and, if not, kind strangers at least - when the time comes.

v-grrrl flew off from Brussels this morning and my heart was in mouth when I heard that a plane had possibly gone down. I keep hoping that all the experience on board that plane might have made for a landing that allowed people off but storm conditions in the area seem to suggest otherwise.

This was how I felt when I heard this morning.

So very sad. My heart goes out to the families & friends of passengers and crew members. It would be wonderful if there are any survivors/rescues.

Yes, it is very sad, it takes my breathe away as I plan a flying trip to Paris this year.
