Between the Post and Sarah -- not to mention Robert McNamara's death -- news has been interesting if nothing else. A good break in the Michael Jackson action. I quit my CNN news briefs after receiving two today -- one said the coffin was just placed on the altar and the other said his daughter said he was the best father ever. Sorry, CNN. This isn't news.

What is going on with politics at the moment?? As usual there has to be a motive behind these actions.

I love this living sculpture. It has to be so cool to see him in person. And lavender, none the less.

Wow, that article about the forced marriage is INSANE. It is just horrible what happens to women in this world, and we hardly hear about it. That this happens so often, is the worst part.

Merisi's Vienna for Beginner

Sorry, I neglected to put the link to The New Yorker Magazine, where Gladwell's review has been published: http://www.newyorker.com/arts/critics/books/2009/07/06/090706crbo_books_gladwell

Arresting image! :-)
The new chapter of the SP Saga is quite intriguing,
the WashPost story is really depressing!

Have you had a chance to read Malcolm Gladwell's review - Priced to Sell
Is free the future? - of Chris Anderson’s new book, “Free: The Future of a Radical Price” (Hyperion; $26.99)? From his remarks on Anderson's assertion of “paying people to get other people to write” (Gladwell rightly asks "If you can afford to pay someone to get other people to write, why can’t you pay people to write?") to the Gladwell's question of "Why are the self-interested motives of powerful companies being elevated to a philosophical principle?" and beyond, all food for thought. And depression.

What an incredible image. I love these visual tours you take us on.

Thanks for keeping us informed - the Dr's story esp. just leaves me speechless - that such things still happen in this day and age...
Somehow the photo you chose seems to be a fitting illustration for any/all of the stories - pictures are worth a 1000 words - but now it dawns on me how they can also tell different stories! xo

Thanks for the links to each of the articles, they were informative. I had no idea there were so many forced marriages. I hope it will soon come to light that Sarah Palin should not be in politics.
