On Monday I had a long lunch on Ile Saint-Louis with the fabulous Pia Jane Bijkerk, whom I met in June in Amsterdam . Pia is in town on a whirlwind visit for her beautiful new book Paris: Made by Hand. You can pick up a copy at WH Smith on rue de Rivoli. Be sure to look at the imaginative window display Pia created in the store's rue Cambon vitrine.
And Pia hand-carried her friend Riley Salyards' gorgeous pottery, all the way from Amsterdam. Talk about special delivery! Visit Riley's new blog Roe. Her work is for sale at a lovely antiques shop at 827 Prinsengracht, Amsterdam. More details here.
Raku featuring my favourite aqua and an interior imprinted with vintage lace.
This bowl is imprinted with natural materials Riley found during walks with her young son.

Wow, such amazing work! Love Pia.

Lunch with Pia, how fabulous! Lucky you. It is because of you, that I even found her. I love the serendipitous moments that lead to great discoveries Tara. You've introduced me to so much!
The bowls are a lovely gift for a beautiful gal like yourself. Most fitting. xoxo

Oh, Tara, how beautiful. The Raku is stunning and resembles a couple of pieces I found at a potter's stall in "The Torpedo Factory" in Alexandria, Va. That aqua is delicious!

These are simply BEAUTIFUL! Lucky you! I still remember walking by a lovely shop on Prinsengracht six years ago and seeing this stunning egg with little human hands breaking out of it. It was a Sunday and the shop was closed, and I always thought I'd go back and get that beautiful piece. They make pretty things in Amsterdam!
