White roses: a lovely surprise gift. What unexpected delight is making you smile today?
"Breathing
in, breathing out; feeling resentful; feeling happy; being able to drop
it, not being able to drop it; eating our food; brushing our teeth;
walking; sitting - whatever we're doing could be done with one
intention. That intention is that we want to wake up,
we want to ripen our compassion and we want to ripen our ability to let
go; we want to realise our connection with all beings. Everything in
our lives has the potential to wake us up or put us to sleep. Allowing
it to awaken us is up to us." - Pema Chodron, Comfortable with Uncertainty

so much adoration for pema. and for you tara bella! my delightful surprise today is that my green zebra heirloom tomatoes have ripened and are way more delicious than i ever hoped they'd be. xo!

Indeed. And the serendipity is that you post this on a day when I couldn't be less awake. Literally, I have been struggling to keep my eyes open all day. Perhaps I should look inward for the answer to my sleepiness. px

" ... we want to ripen our compassion ..." Oh, yes. I've been thinking often lately that we'd really do ourselves a wonderful favor if in the face of uncertainty we inhaled and exhaled instead of holding our breath, if we relaxed, unfolded ourselves instead of tightening up, clenching our hands into fists. If we just waited to see what was really happening instead of foretelling evil and doom. As for the unexpected delight making me smile - the Whiteflower Farm gardening catalog ... so many beautiful delights for my courtyard! My 'secret garden'!

That excerpt from "Comfortable with Uncertainty" rings so true too, doesn't it!? I love that, and forgot to say in my previous comment. You find the most inspiring things to share so thank you for that! (Needed it!)

White roses, just beautiful. What is delighting me today is anticipation. Anticipation of a trip to France, anticipation of picking up glass jewelry I made and seeing the finished product. Anticipation of a good tomato sauce cooking on the stove, fresh tomatoes from the garden.

Lovely photograph, lovely quote, a reminder of where we should be working towards each day.

Nothing yet, but I'm hopeful! No, I take that back. I went for a walk and collected my own bouquet of wild sunflowers and prairie grasses. It looks beautiful--and I did take delight in it!
