A modern hotel adjacent to an ancient chapel, Montreuil-sur-Mer, France.
An excerpt of "Isabella returns from Nepal," from Paula Coelho's book Like the Flowing River:
"...One afternoon, she was walking near the monastery with one of the monks, when he opened the bag he was carrying and stood for a long time studying its contents. Then he said to Isabella, "Did you know that bananas can teach you the meaning of life?"
"He took out a rotten banana from the bag and threw it away. "That is the life that has been and gone and which was not used to the full and for which it is now too late."
"Then he drew out another banana, which was green. He showed it to her and put it back in the bag. "This is the life that has yet to happen and for whom we need to wait until the moment is right."
"Finally, he took out a ripe banana, peeled it and shared it with Isabella. "This is the present moment. Learn how to gobble it up without fear or guilt."
May you enjoy every moment of your weekend!
P.S. In the spirit of our common humanity, please read this touching story.

I eat a banana every morning.......

I love you! I just read the last 3 posts and was truly struck by how brave you are and how balanced! A little information and indignation, a little something to touch my heart, a call to action and a reminder to pay attention. Thanks for all of it and the beautiful images to accompany each set of words so my whole mind is engaged. If you could just figure out how to let me smell the flowers or breeze with each image, I would be in hog heaven! smooches and smooches for making my bright Saturday morning a little brighter!

I wouldn't have tossed the rotten banana - banana bread! THANK YOU for the Mudflats link; it is a strain hearing all the vitriol and seeing the images of gun-toting fellow Americans. We have a chance to show true, right-here-right-now compassion but some persist in portraying this as 'evil.' They're so righteous about the 'right-to-life,' but isn't health part of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness?
