When I saw this little Bedouin girl at Petra, leading a donkey larger than she, I was immediately struck by her determination. Somehow, she reminded me of my dear friend Gillian, who's always taking on intriguing projects, acquiring new skills, shaking things up, racing headlong down the road less traveled. Today is Gillian's birthday and no doubt, it's the beginning of a year of fun-filled adventures for her! I'm happy we'll get to spend some time together soon in Jordan.
