A bee flies towards a poppy in the accidental wildflower garden.
For at least eight years, hortensia (hydrangeas) bloomed in this giant plant space on our balcony. Sadly, damage when the balcony was sand-blasted doomed the hortensia. When weeds started to grow in its place, I looked out the window and thought 'I should go pull them up.' But I was busy and traveling, so the weeds kept growing. Daisies and other wildflowers arrived, including a mass of poppies. My husband suggested we could consider it as a wildflower garden; certainly an improvement over a bed of weeds. As I snapped a photo, a bee buzzed by... Perhaps pulling the weeds can wait a while longer.

a living example of my favorite wish....."May all your weeds be wildflowers." You are soooo lucky!!!

OH, dear -- forgot the verification word! Do love the poppies -- one of my favorite, and how nice of them to fill in for Hortensia. They're so cheery -- must plant some seeds next year. Or I wonder if you do them in the fall? How lucky you were to have them simply appear!

How I do love poppies -- I must grow some next year. So cheery. Glad at least something lovely replaced the hortensia.

I'd say...especially when your weeds look like that.

Very pretty shots of flowers, it makes me long for them to bloom here.

I just planted poppies this year. They look so fragile but are so tough. Wonderful creatures!

I've often found that unexpected treasures are the brightest.
These are beautiful!

Oh, I love your wildflower garden. We have something similar in front of our dining window, but really I think it is where Jim sticks any seeds or plants he doesn't know where to put. He says it is the birds that place them there. It is wild and right now has poppies almost ready to bloom.

Definitely leaving them!
Mother Nature at work. :-)

You and I seriously think alike. Leave 'em for now. If I had a dime for everything that sandblasting here destroyed, I'd be rich. There is a certain chaotic beauty to letting nature take its course afterwards. Not everyone would see it that way, bit I do.
