Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. - Dr. Martin Luther King
Let's shine the light and show the love to combat hatred, ignorance and fear:
US church defiant despite condemnation of Koran burning
"This is not America." Concern voiced over religious intolerance
Muslims protest over US church's plans to burn Koran
"...Wicked, broken fringes of society..."
And finally, a song "Out of this" by Autamata from the film Tara Road:
"...Out of this noise, here comes the stillness...
out of this chaos, here comes the order,
out of this language, out of this language,
out of these words..."

merci, well said :)

Adee, thank you. Am so honoured. What a lovely surprise! My birthday is Friday and I shall take my Leica out for a spin and find an image just for you.

thanks Tara!
reading words like these, i'm proud (though i shouldn't be!) to say that i come from a land where bigotry and intolerance of any kind is unwelcome, a religion which believes in all religions as many ways to reach that one God, to That which is within and lights up our souls.
btw, on your birthday, as you both light up my life, a new poem dedicated to my love and to you here: http://delhidreams.blogspot.com/
hope you'll have a look :)

Gillian is right in saying it was intolerance that led to the events of 9/11 in the first place. And underlying the intolerance is the appalling ignorance of ordinary americans, an ignorance nurtured by the media. Let there be light of understanding and knowledge.

We all have to kick at the darkness until it bleeds daylight (with thanks to Bruce Cockburn). You are a bright light for me, my friend.

How fantastic! I just finished writing a post for September 11th about this exact issue and used this same MLK Jr. quote. Then I saw you've used it too.
Compassionate minds think alike :)

I read about this hate in the newspaper this morning and it indeed made me sad. I am reminded of the song "Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me". Definitely we need more love to smother the hate.

The song wouldn't link for me Tara but the rest did, and I'm in disbelief. Why such intolerance? Isn't intolerance what led to the events of 9/11 to begin with? Two wrongs don't make a right. Right?
This saddens me so much. Each of us needs to work on ourselves. We cannot bend others to our will. It just doesn't work.
Sad, sad.
