Bunches of lavender at a florist in Delft, Holland.
A fall bouquet and a pot of lavender.
Purple thistle and pots of cacti.
It's been a day so disheartening that I listened twice to Earth Wind and Fire's That's the Way of the World. These images of water lilies remind me that from the depths of mess and muck - and even chaos - something remarkable can emerge.
Many, many waterlilies are about to bloom in this canal in Delft: surely a metaphor for challenges we can meet and rise above...

the duality of life - the outrage of DHS policies juxtaposed against the hope & spirit of a brave child.
love your photographs - the thistle especially!!

Beautiful images to counter these depressing stories. Tara, I would give anything to join your journey to Jordan, but sadly it's in the middle of my teaching term. I do hope you will do this again some time. I've just been posting about my trip to beautiful Prague last week. In the midst of Britain's mess and witnessing the welfare state being systematically broken down, I find travel and focusing on the beauty and interest of what I see to be a necessity.

Oh, Tara, I think this post is a most beautiful response to the "wastage," the "redundancies" of garbage, being tossed about these days. The images from Holland are stunning. How interesting that water lilies and the magnolias here in the South are in the same division and class! I would never have guessed ;-0

A visual feast to accompany your words of wisdom. Loved this post, particularly today. Thank you.

The canal will be spectacular with blooming water lilies. I can just picture it. Your photos are much needed to see a little beauty in all the muck. Thanks!
