A boy jumps for joy following a parade Thursday night celebrating the end of the school term in the Netherlands. I was leaning out a second-floor window to get these pictures.
A marching band kicks off the 8 p.m. parade.
A drum majorette raises her baton, as another marching band joins the parade.
The drum corps.
Children in high spirits, with summer holidays ahead.
All children were presented with flowers, balloons, toys, ribbons and/or medals to mark the occasion.
Young judo students.
More sports enthusiasts.
Yet another marching band. The little boy in front helps "direct" the music.
One little girl was carrying a butterfly net; another was wearing a swimming innertube.
More proud teachers, parents and students.

hehee!! such great photos!
Wouldn't it be fun if they had such parades for the START of term?!

Love it. Such joy! I wonder what else you're going to see from your window as the year goes along.

Hello Tara, Great to see such a fun parade from your window! Although I think this is not about the last day of school (which for your area is July 1st), but the last day of the 'Avondvierdaagse' the four day evening walking event. It is the little brother of the four day walking event in Nijmegen. The Avondvierdaagse is an event which takes place every year, all over the country. Most schools participate. Every participant walks distances of 5 or 10 kilometers, four evenings in a row. The last evening there usually is a parade to bring the participants to the finish, where they all receive a medal. Family and friends come to greet the walkers and give them flowers.
Enjoy the warm weather the next few days!

Oh Tara, this must be so fun to see from your window. I would love to see a parade going by. Right now all I see from my windows is a pair of doves and some squirrels going after the bird seed in the feeder. And the sun, oh how it is shining and beautiful this morning. Enjoy your view from the window.
