"Where words fail, music speaks." - Hans Christian Andersen
Music in my world today: Dvorak's Largo, from the New World Symphony, played by the Dublin Philharmonic.
Reading: Donna Tartt's remarkable new book The Goldfinch.
Watching: 1) Collected films of Wallender, the Swedish crime thriller series starring Krister Henriksson, Ola Rapace and the late Johanna Sällström and 2) Sebastian Junger's documentary tribute to photographer Tim Hetherington, who was killed in Libya: "Which way is the front line from here?"
Admiring: Here, Far Away - Finnish photographer Pentti Sammallahti's evocative, award-winning images and photographer Nick Brandt's achingly beautiful Across the Ravaged Land.
Been wondering about that book, thanks for the recommendation.
I dream of visiting Chawton, but didn't know we could play her piano. Now wouldn't that be a very special treat. I wonder if
I remember how to play.

Jeanie, the Wallender films starring Krister Henrikkson are far superior to the Kenneth Branaugh ones - if you don't mind the English subtitles, as of course the films are in Swedish. You can buy 4 box sets of them - Series 1 and 2 are the best, in my view, although each season has something to recommend it. Winter is on its way here too!

VERY interesting about the Wallander films. I have all the Kenneth Branagh ones done and featured on Masterpiece Mystery, but I didn't know there are full length films. I've been reading the Mankell books as well. He's a good writer.
The piano is so beautiful. Just finished a novel "about" Jane Austen, a daydream fantasy. I would love to visit her home.
It's cold here -- gray and windy, too. It feels like winter is gradually making its way here!
