Even in these challenging times, we all have some tender mercies to appreciate. On this Thanksgiving, I am happy that my daughter is able to spend the holiday visiting her grandparents and cousins. And of course I have many other reasons for which to be thankful!
In the Netherlands - where it's not a holiday - we're planning to eschew the traditional Thanksgiving turkey for Rick Stein's spicy fish curry. Since it's proved quite the unpredictable year - with many unexpected twists and turns - David and I are not really in the mood for our usual Thanksgiving turkey, cranberry-and-orange stuffing, roast potatoes and sweet potato pie. After all, counting one's blessings doesn't require a specific menu.
Wherever you are - and whatever's on your table - wishing you and yours a very Happy Thanksgiving with family and friends!
Thanksgiving is a state of mind. It is every day if and when we are thankful.
Personally, I love a variation from traditional turkey some years. One year I even enjoyed sushi.
This year my husband was recovering from surgery so I actually cooked a traditional turkey dinner...for two. We usually dine with other family members. Cooking our dinner brought back so many memories of younger years and big family meals and family members who are now gone.
Before it seems I am getting WAY too nostalgic I will admit this: I still HATE the clean up and dealing with the leftovers!
Happy Thanksgiving to you!

Indeed, there are many reasons to be thankful in all we have been blessed with. Sending you and David good wishes from the Pacific Northwest.

It's Thanksgiving Day, and our family eats an early dinner instead of lunch. Just now there is a lull between the hectic preparations and all the guests arriving for the meal. I wanted to take some of that time to visit my blogging friends. I needed to say thank you. Thank you for the inspiration you provide here in your place and for the comments you leave behind when you visit mine. Happy Thanksgiving, friend.

Indeed. Thanks and grace require no specific menu, just sharing and being thankful.
(And if you wanted a traditional turkey dinner -- you could head here! And interesting bit from The Smithsonian.

Rick and I send you a warm holiday greeting and we are grateful for you two, your warmth and generosity and for David's recovery from surgery. Much joy to you.
