Vermeer-inspired beauties in Delft, the Netherlands.
I had tears in my eyes when David and I first saw Vermeer's magnificent "Girl with a Pearl Earring" at the Mauritshuis in The Hague. If you visit the Netherlands, don't miss a trip to the Mauritshuis, which has an impressive collection of paintings, including The Goldfinch.
And of course, plan a journey to Delft, where Johannes Vermeer painted all his masterpieces. It is a beautiful university town, just an hour by train from Amsterdam. Next to Amsterdam, it's my favourite Dutch city!
Great photos. The ladies look just exactly the same with the paintings. Did you ever knew how beautiful these ladies are?

Well, I only saw a few Dutch cities but yes, Delft was my favorite! It is an exquisite town, isn't it? And the Vermeer Center was one of my highlights of the trip (Paris and London included). Even though there are no originals there, learning about the process, the history -- it's fascinating.
This post brings back very special reminders of an even more special day. A lovely al fresco lunch, seeing the sundial (?) on the town square, discovering this wonderful spot I'd read about -- and of course buying my favorite "souvenirs" from the trip, some beautiful china. Thank you for sharing these glamorous and beautifully posed "models" and taking me back to a wonderful day.
